Bredal A/S

F2 W in general

F2 W from Bredal is based on the well   known Bredal principle  with a rubber belt in the bottom of the hopper to ensure the right dosage. and the very reliable cage wheel system to ensure a drive speed related dosage. These systems combined ensure that a very  precise dosage no matter what forward speed you are driving.

As standard the F2 W  is mounted with load cell, always to have a control of the amount spread. The loadcell technique is a well tested system,  as  used on  Bredal trailed  spreaders for many years. The design of the spreader is  based on the Bredal principle, of heavy duty for proffessional users.

For checking the spread amount on a F2W, you have amonitor in the cabin of the tractor, where you can see:

  • Kg left in the hopper
  • Kg spread pr. ha
  • Ha spread
  • Forward speed
  • Rotations on the discs

There are also functions in the computer, where you can save 10 diffferent datasets.

To give the computer the correct inputs according to forward speed and rotations, there are sensors on the spreader, one under the left spread disc and one on the land wheel.
The one under the spread disc indicates that the discs are turning and also with how many revolutions. This also acts as an indicator for correct operation of the headland gear.

The headland equipment on a F2W, is the unique Bredal headland gear, where you ensure a soft touch on the fertilizer, to minimize the risc of damaging the grain. There are 2 different versions, depending on the working width of the spreader, one for working widths up to 28 m, and one for the working widths above.

Activation of the headland gear on the standard version  is by manually by pulling a handle on the left side of the spread  box. When spreading in the field, the handle has to be on 1 (or "In field Spreading"), and when spreading to headland ½ (or "Headland spreading")

On the F2W is there ONE set of discs to operate on the working widths from 12 to 36m, without adjusting on the angle of the  vanes, or changing them. The discs are 82 cm in diameter, which ensures that the fertilizer will gain a high speed, before leaving the disc/ vanes, the fertilizer grains  will gain a speed of up to 250 km/h. The high speed combined with a low height, and a low rise up through the vanes, minimizes  the risk of wind  influencing the spread pattern.

All parts which are in the high risk zone of being damaged by the fertilizer grains  are made in stainless steel, to ensure a longevity of the spreader. All shieldings around around the discs, the downshutes, vanes and other exposed parts are made in stainless .The whole hopper  can also be  made in stainless steel  for the F2W

Setting of an F2W is by refering to the dosage charts in the Service manual and a litre weight of the fertilizer. The  litre weight of the fertilizer is an essential  measure in setting in a Bredal spreader, as all settings of a Bredal  are in volume (litres) instead of weght (kgs). This  results in requiring only one dosage chart for all types of fertilizer (instructions are needed for spreading special fertilizer like Ammonium nitrate,Urea etc).
After finding the weight per Litre with the Bredal "Litre weight"  kit (do not trust the figures on the bag , as these are from a lab) the calculation  can be made using the Bredal "slide ruler" from kg/ha to litre/ha.

Optional equipment

Optional equipment  for the F2W includes a Teejet500 computer to control the dosing on the machine.  In this case a hydraulic motor controls  the floorbelt speed.  Using a computer controlled spreader  allows the possibility to change the dosage on the move, and  also to link to GPS  varaible rate  systems .

Optional Equipment

It is also possible to mount a control of the headland gear and for the downshutes through the Teejet 500 computer. In practice this means , that the driver doen't have to leave the cabin to adjust the spreader for headland spreading. The change on the headland gear is hydraulic. A sensor will report this to the computer, which will  then automatically adjust the downshutes to the correct position.
